About Us

Society of Women Engineers

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.

Greater Syracuse Area Section

The Greater Syracuse Area Section (E008) was founded in March of 1985 and consisted of 11 members from both the Mid-Atlantic and New England Regions Member At Large (MAL) Sections. Prior to the dissolution of the regions, we were part of the Region E Mid-Atlantic.

Our Section is currently comprised of SWE members from zip codes beginning with 130, 131, or 132 and any MAL members who choose to be assigned to this Section. Since our founding we have grown to over 50 registered members as of August 2023.
