We will continue to plan a mix of virtual and in-person events. Detailed planning will be done a month or two at a time due to the continuously changing situation.
The 31st Annual Scholarship Program has kicked off! Applications and sponsorship information are now available on our website! (links: applications, sponsorship info) This year’s committee is below, though we are always looking for more volunteers. For additional information or if interested in volunteering please reach out to the committee at syracuseSWE.scholarship@gmail.com. Special thank you to Lexy for volunteering as the Sponsorship Coordinator this year!

The 31st Annual Scholarship Program has kicked off! This year’s committee so far is below, but we still need a volunteer. Applications and sponsorship information will be available in January. We got some good feedback and will be offering a mix of virtual and in-person events in an attempt to accommodate as many people as possible. Detailed planning will be done a month or two at a time due to the continuously changing situation, so we can plan appropriately. Please note that at this time we are not planning to do an in person Friendsgiving or Holiday dinner this year as these were discussed as the most social and hardest to accommodate at this time.

- We are excited to be planning an in person, outdoor reception to be held at a local state or county park, more details to come.

- SWEaters, SWEets, and Sips
- In December Greater Syracuse SWE members and friends gathered virtually to enjoy some festive cheer. Not as well attended as RSVPs indicated.
We will continue to plan a mix of virtual and in-person events. Detailed planning will be done a month or two at a time due to the continuously changing situation.
- Jewelry Making Demonstration
- This will be a live stream where a fellow SWE member and a trained jeweler will be demonstrating how rings are resized as well as how stones are set into prongs. If you have ever wondered, join in to watch!

- Girl Scouts- We are reaching out to local Girl Scout leadership to find out what type of activity they’d be interested in.
- CITI BOCES Career Connections (Virtual)
- We are partnering with CITI BOCES to offer meaningful, career-specific connections for students across New York state and are looking for volunteers to participate. We will be live streaming to middle and high school students, providing insight on our day to day career lives as well as providing background information about our education, job search, and career goals. At the end of the short (~10 minute) presentation, the students will be able to ask questions about your experiences and future plans. We'd love to hear from women of varying experience levels and disciplines of engineering - this provides the students with a more thorough understanding of the process involved with becoming an engineer.
- This opportunity will be facilitated through BOCES. Volunteers must be SWE members. The date and time will be flexible to accommodate schedules but participants must be able to commit roughly 30 minutes during business hours. This is an ongoing opportunity throughout the academic year. If you are interested in giving back to students through presentations, please let us know by 2/12 to participate in the first round.

- NYWEA Annual Meeting
- On behalf of our friends in NYWEA (NY Water Environment Association) we would like to share that their Annual Meeting that will be held virtually later this month. Many of the technical sessions are PDH eligible. More information can be found on their website.
- We are also excited to share that Greater Syracuse SWE member Lauren Livermore will be taking over as President of NYWEA at the end of the conference. Congratulations, Lauren!

- Attended by about 20 people
- Good feedback on event, we would like do more of these in the future
- Career Panel with SU
- Power outage at SU caused delay in start time, however students still joined and actively participated
- WE20
- WE20, SWE’s annual conference, ran from November 2nd-13th in a completely virtual format. Thousands of participants streamed a mix of live and previously recorded sessions on a wide variety of topics, as well as participated in networking chats and a career fair. Greater Syracuse Area Secretary, Kara DiNatale, presented a session on Continuous Improvement with a group of SWE members from around the country.

- SWE Holiday SWEaters, SWEets, and Sips
- Don your favorite ugly sweater and join us for some holiday themed virtual fun! Show off a cookie you've decorated, share a cocktail recipe, and play games. Attendees will vote on cookies, cocktails, sweaters, and custom Teams backgrounds- prizes of SWE Swag will be mailed after the event.

- Sponsorship coordinator: VOLUNTEER NEEDED
- The Sponsorship Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the communications between Greater Syracuse SWE and our sponsors. This includes sending out sponsorship invitations to previous sponsoring companies, reaching out to new companies for sponsorship opportunities, receiving/logging all sponsorship donations, and sending thank you messages to donating sponsors. The Sponsorship Coordinator also has a speaking part in the reception script. Approximate time commitment is 1-3hrs per week, January-May.

- Overall positive, virtual event in June was appreciated although in person is rightfully preferred

- To our understanding SU has restricted all events for organizations to virtual only so they will not be joining for this in person event this year.
