Earth Day Clean Up
April 23, 2016 - Members of the Greater Syracuse Area Section partnered up with OCRRA and 40 Below to participate in an earth day clean up starting at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater and continuing along the creekwalk towards Hiawatha Boulevard. Over two dozen bags of trash and recyclables were picked up in just two hours. A cold day to begin with, ARCADIS and SWE provided coffee , juice, and bagels, and by the end of the clean-up it turned out to be a beautiful day.
Local 315 Brewery Tour and Networking
March 2, 2016 - Members of the Greater Syracuse Area Section and friends gathered to support the local business, Local 315 Brewery, for a facility tour and networking. The brewery opened in September 2015 and since then has been experimenting with different flavors and types of beer that everyone can enjoy! The facility not only brews beer, but also houses a petting zoo and pumpkin patch. Wastewater from the brewing process is treated at the site and recycled to water the pumpkin patch. After the tour, everyone enjoyed sampling flights and snacks provided by SWE while networking with other professionals in the area. Turnout was great with 28 attendees with great feedback from the event!
Lean Six Sigma Presentation
January 28, 2016 - Greater Syracuse Area Section SWE member, Carrie Dickinson, led a seminar on Lean Six Sigma hosted at Syracuse University.
Annual Holiday Dinner
December 7, 2015 - Members of the Greater Syracuse Area Section and friends gathered at Justin's Tuscan Grill for our Annual Holiday Dinner.
Anheuser-Busch Budweiser Facility and WWTP Tour
November 19, 2015 - The Greater Syracuse Area Section partnered up with the Central New York Chapter of the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA) and the New York Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) to tour the Anheuser-Busch Budweiser Facility and dedicated WWTP located in Baldwinsville, NY.
SWEet Apple Picking
October 17, 2015 - Members of the Greater Syracuse Area and Syracuse University Sections met up at O'Neill's orchard for a day of apple picking and apple fritters!
Green Infrastructure Tour at Rosamond Gifford Zoo and Syracuse Chiefs Game
August 25, 2015 - The Greater Syracuse Area Section partnered up with the Central New York Chapter of the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA) and the New York Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) to learn about the stormwater practices used at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo as part of the Save the Rain program. Afterwards we headed over to the NBT Bank Stadium for tailgating and the Syracuse Chiefs Game. Photos above are courtesy of our past Secretary, Ashley Waldron.
